Statement
Salutations Fellow CSUCI Students,
I announce with great excitement my candidacy for the CI Student Government Senate.
I am currently a third-year student majoring in Performing Arts (with an emphasis in music). I have a passion for music, as I sing and I play many instruments, like saxophone, piano, flute, guitar, and many more. I have also been an active participant within the performing arts department since I began as a student here, giving me a big advantage to grow my aptitude for teamwork. As a sophomore I was one of four CI students to be sent to Nashville by the PA department for the Curb Creative Connection summit where I learned a myriad of valuable concepts and lessons that have helped guide me afterward.
While at CSUCI I have also been involved various clubs, like the CI Refuge Christian Club as a freshman and also part of the Black Student Union. In the BSU specifically I have been an active participant, and eventually president where I have built upon my concept of what it means to be a leader. I also served on the advisory board for the Black Lives Matter forum due to my presidency.
If elected to the senate, I would give back what I have acquired over my tenure as a CI student and beyond to this outstanding institution. As a lifelong Oxnard resident, I would also be a strong ambassador to the communities around CI. I would put what the culmination of my experience and aptitude as a leader, team player too and motivated individual to enhance the CI student experience, and work to the best of my ability to improve our mutually beloved institution.
