ASI STUDENT GOVERNMENT PRESIDENTIAL & VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES:

Jonathan Dean
PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE:JONATHAN DEAN

Major: Psychology | Class Standing in Fall 2025: Senior

PRESIDENT CANDIDATE STATEMENT:

I am running for Student Government President because I believe in the power of student voices and the importance of strong, empathetic leadership. I am an active listener and dedicated advocate, committed to ensuring your concerns are not only heard, but acted upon.
While there is great value in change, it is also important to strengthen what already works, especially when it comes to supporting students with disabilities and those accessing basic needs services. I am also passionate about advocating for student-athletes and laying the foundation for a fully funded NCAA athletics program. Furthermore, I will work to expand opportunities for student research, building on CSUCI’s newly awarded RCU recognition. Above all, I want to build a campus culture of connection, a “Dolphin Culture” where we get to know someone new each day and truly look out for one another.
Fostering student success both before and beyond graduation strengthens alumni giving potential, enriching the future for all Dolphins. I will consider my term a success if there is an increase in school pride, opportunity, community, and enrollment. Together, we can create a stronger, more connected CSUCI. Your voice matters, I am here to amplify it.
Let’s be Dolphin Strong together!

VICE PRESIDENT CANDIDATE STATEMENT:

I am running for Student Government Vice President because I believe in servant leadership, collaboration, and creating meaningful connections that empower students. As your Vice President, I will work alongside the ASI President and lead the ASI Senate with purpose and dedication ensuring that student voices are heard, respected, and transformed into action.
Together with the Senate, I will advance initiatives that improve campus life whether that means strengthening support services, expanding access to academic and mental health resources, or helping develop a fully funded NCAA athletics program that brings pride and unity to CSUCI. I will also work to expand research opportunities and help build momentum toward CSUCI becoming an R1-designated university. I believe in equipping student-scholars with the resources they need to thrive.
Through intentional leadership and close collaboration with the Senate, I will help turn our collective goals into reality ensuring the student body's vision is reflected in every policy and program we support. I am also committed to building a “Dolphin Culture” rooted in kindness, inclusion, and daily connection. Let us build a stronger, more unified CSUCI, together.
