Sigma Omega Nu (SON)
Sigma Omega Nu Latina Interest Sorority, Inc. was established at California Polytechnic
State University, San Luis Obispo by eight young women as a way to unite and involve
its members in a bond of sisterhood through cultural, academic and social means. It
is the intent of the organization to abide by the pertinent State University regulations.
The purpose of this sorority shall be to strive for sisterhood, scholastic excellence,
self-improvement, and Latina awareness and provide community service on the University
Campus of every corresponding Chapter, as well as in the community.
"I genuinely felt welcomed the first day I met the girls in Sigma Omega Nu. I wanted to become part of a community full of empowering women that value academic, cultura, and sisterhood just as much as I do. As a commuter student, it was challenging to find community on campus, but I am now part of a lifelong sisterhood."
